Fairchild Deluxe Art Tenor Banjo - 1995

The Fairchild Deluxe Art model banjo, built in 1995, illustrates why Wayne Fairchild of Fenton, Michigan is considered one of the finest banjo craftsmen of the present era.

Based on the famous Vega “Vox” design with a full-depth resonator, the Fairchild Deluxe Art banjo sports several unique decorative features not seen other banjos from any manufacturer - past or present.  For example, inlays in the fingerboard and back of the resonator are fashioned of genuine pewter.  The mother of pearl accent inlays are crafted from extremely rare gold colored shell.  Maximizing the visual impact of the modern crystal clear plastic banjo head, Fairchild added a distinctive hand carving inside of the banjo.  These design elements - in addition to the hand-engraved, 24 carat gold-plated metal parts and the gorgeous wood marquetry that borders the resonator - make the Fairchild Deluxe Art a treasure in the world of collectible banjos.  From the Jack Canine Collection
