The schedule for each class includes 9 hours of instruction:
Saturday
9 a.m. - 12noon - Banjo Instruction
12 noon- 2 p.m. lunch break
2 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Banjo Instruction
Sunday
9 a.m. - 12 noon - Banjo Instruction

All classes will be taught in the IBC lecture room at the NBHFM in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Tuition is $250 per course and tuition includes all instruction and printed materials.

Course Description: How to Play Basic Chord - Melody 201
|

Most 4-string banjo players have a desire to play a full-chord-melody-solo. Whether it is a hot tune like "Bye, Bye Blues" or the beautiful, melodic waltz, "Melody Of Love", banjoists wants to play solo. This course is designed to enable students to do exactly that; play full-chord-melody solos. You will learn the 3 must know rules in playing full-chord solos that will allow you to arrange and play tunes like you want. This course is a must for any serious 4-string banjo player.
Pre-requisites For This Course:
To enroll in this course a student should have a general knowledge and understanding of the following:
- Chords in multiple forms (inversions) up and down the neck
- Playing the rhythm banjo
- Reading and playing the notes on the treble clef
Things To Be Taught In This Course:
- Multiple chords and chord inversions
- The 3 must know rules for playing chord melody
- How to change keys for easier full-chord solo playing
- Solo tunes such as:
- Yes, Sir, That's My Baby
- Bye, Bye Blues
- Melody of Love
- The World is Waiting for the Sunrise
- I Want to Be Happy
This course will be taught over a 1 ½ day period and will consist of 12 hours of instruction. Tuition is $200. Deadline for registration is 7 days before the course begins.
