Scott Whitfield has been a professional musician and educator since 1968.  In 1977 he graduated from Midwestern University with a Bachelor of Music Degree with a major in theory and composition and performance in clarinet.  In 1981 he established ScottSound Music in far north Dallas.  Since then he and his staff have been teaching over a hundred students a week.  During that twenty year span Whitfield has established music programs in the north Dallas private schools.  He is currently Band Director at Solomon Schechter Academy.

In addition to teaching 35 students a week, Whitfield plays the Dallas-Fort Worth market as a professional jazz banjoist.  He averages 300 gigs a year.  He has authored two banjo methods and has recorded five albums all selling internationally.  Whitfield has been a headliner for the Sacramento Banjorama and the Ban-Joes of Michigan, and appears as featured soloist at many events around the United States.  He is the Dean of the International Banjo College.
