Tim Allan, known as a virtuoso solo performer and television star in his native Canada. He began playing the banjo at 15 and was performing professionally in a Quebec resort hotel by the time he was 16. He won the North American banjo competition in 1977 playing .The Poet and Peasant Overture. and again in 1978 playing .The William Tell Overture.. For 14 seasons, he was a cast member of CBC television.s popular .Tommy Hunter Show. and performed regularly on cruise ships. Allan has taught music since he was 12 and since 1979 has regularly contributed articles to the FIGA (Fretted Instrument Guild of America) bimonthly magazine, as well as to The Resonator, a bimonthly four-string banjo newsletter. He gives workshops and private lessons on banjo, guitar, mandolin and ukulele, has recorded seven albums, performs annually as a featured banjoist at festivals and banjo gatherings in the US and Canada, and performs his one-man show on cruises, at theaters and for conventions.
