Dr. E.A. “Al” McCune


Dr. E.A. “Al” McCune is a general surgeon in Enid, Oklahoma where he has been in private practice since 1967. A native Oklahoman, he is a graduate of Westminister College in Fulton, Missouri and the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. He was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1961 while serving in the military as Chief of Surgery.

Al is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Medical Association, Oklahoma State Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, Oklahoma Surgical Association and the Southwestern Surgical Congress. In addition, he is a founding member of the University of Oklahoma Surgical Society and a charter member of the American Society of General Surgeons. He has served as president of the Garfield County Medical Society, Oklahoma Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Oklahoma Surgical Association and St. Mary’s Board of Trustees.

He has also served on the Enid City Council and been a member of Rotary since 1967.

Al began playing the banjo in the 1950s, but set it aside until 1996 when he picked it up again. In his opinion, “The instrument, people and music are great.” He plays regularly with the Okie Dokie Banjo Band.

Al and his wife have four grown children and five grandchildren.
