Long time band leader of the Bayou Banjo Band of Houston, Tex, Dick Czaplewski (Ski) passed away Sunday in Houston. 1-18-2001. Ski was a good friend, a strong leader of the Bayou Banjo Band, and a big part of helping me put on the Guthrie Jazz Banjo Festival. His positive influence, encouragement to all who played the banjo, and leadership will be missed by all of us who knew him. Thanks Ski, for all the good times we shared together. I know you are playing in the heavenly band today. My prayers go out to Diane, Ski's wife and the band he leaves behind, The Bayou Banjo Band, in their losses.
