Message Board - Congratulations to the following 2006 Hall of Fame Nominees.

I studied c lassical guitar under Mr. Bauer for 6 years and am happy to see him honored here on your site. He loved to teach and was a talented strings musician. Every Monday at 2:30 I walked up the stairs of his house to his studio for my lesson. He hung his instruments from the walls of this room since there would never have been room to walk around had he stood on the floor! He was a confident, self-assured man and he could be a demanding teacher too, but underneath the tough exterior was a caring person who cherished every one of his students. Each year at his annual Band of Banjos concert he would tell the audience how he had memorized thousands of pieces - his reasoning was that memorizing music was a whole lot easier than dragging a cabinet filled with sheet music around!
