purchased old kay banjo in hard case. Never used. Back of banjo is carved eagle on wood. Beautiful. Anyone know about this instrument?

That is an import, probably from Korea, unless, it has a "patriotic" scheme around that eagle, and U.S. , in the headstock.
That would be a 1950's military KAY. which soldiers played during those years.

Yeah... I have a similar banjo in similar condition. I was trying to sell it, but someone asked me if it had a tone ring. I had no clue. Does that particular banjo have a tone ring?
