Sorry - can anyone ID my banjo?

I bought a four-string banjo in 1997, and still know next to nothing about it. There's no name on the headstock, no serial numbers, etc., but the back of the instrument is very elaborately decorated and there are lots of interesting markings on the neck. The guy I bought it from said that he had acquired it in the sixties, and that he played Celtic music on it. I paid $50 for it.
