Gentelmen: I just became the owner of a Waverly Banjo that I purcahsed as a wall display and am wondering just what I have and possibly what it might be worth before hanging it on the wall. The Banjo has the name "Waverly" on the chrome item that holds and seperates the strings at the bottom of the head. The head is 11" in diameter and it has it has a total of 17 metal frets up the arm. I also has a deminsion of 19" from the head to the end of the arm (if that is the right term). Going from the head there is one round mother of pearl spot between the 6 & 7 Fret, two of the spots between 8 & 9, two spots between 11 & 12, one spot between 13 & 14th fret. It is a four (4) string banjo and looks like it has mother of pearl knobs that tighten the strings. There is a mother of pearl star inlaid in the top of the arm above the adjusting knob area. On the rear of the head there is a chorme disc that can be removed by removing one screw in the center of the rear of the head. If anyone might have any idea what this is we would certainly appreciate the assistance.

Hello,
banjos sounds to be Lyon Healy, or Slingerland, student model
Hub cap resonator is aftermarket, from that period.
Cost around 13 dollars new, and worth around 150 now.
