I have a banjo i havn't taken apart yet, and hadn't planned on doing so soon ... but..... i can't find a mfg.... can you help?

It's not a ludwig,,,,,

It's a full size tenor banjo, appears to be semi-hi-line, color is natural. 19 fret scale, nice inlays on peghead and fret board. the head is a 12 1/2" with a tone ring. You can see the tone ring because the metal ring on top of the pot has holes all the way around, so you can look inside (sorta). the tone ring you can see also has holes in it. the resonator (if you can call it that....it's more of a sound deflector) has been installed from the inside (at least it looks that way). when you turn the banjo over, the sound deflectoris recesed 1/2" in and is convex.
it has a wood inlay around the base of the pot in sort of a "southwestern" pattern in orange, green, black, yellow, and white. if you look at the banjo, it appears to be an open back. from the look of it, it appears to be a 20's to 30's date of mfg.

come on, someone must have seen one of these somewhere.....who made it?????

Dear Net Visitor with the unknown banjo!

You MAY have to dismantle (as you probably have by now) to find out who made the instrument.Your description is excellent. Could you send a photo to the site? Or mail it to Museum, 116 East Oklahoma, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.

There were ZILLIONS of manufactureres. Some went out of business quickly and some were absorbed into larger companies.
