I am looking for a new head for my grandpa's banjo. It's a Roy Smeck Harmony 4-String Tenor Banjo, and he bought it new in 1967. The head, which has recently split, measures 10 7/8". We've tried other brands but none fits right. My grandpa is blind and gets so much happiness out of his instruments. If anybody knows where I can get a head that might fit his banjo, I would greatly appreciate the information.

Hi, Here you can get the right head for grandpa's bjo: http://www.bernunzio.com/NEW/inventory.html and go to the page "heads": http://www.bernunzio.com/cgi-bin/bernunzio/f2k.pl?Class=Parts#BanjoHeads-QH
I think you'll need a medium or low crown head (the crown determines how far the tension hoop can be pulled down the rim). High crown won't suit a Harmony bjo (in my opinion). Sincerely Norbert Hausmann

CORRECTION I think you'll need a medium or high crown head (the crown determines how far the tension hoop can be pulled down the rim). Low crown won't suit a Harmony bjo (in my opinion). Sorry! Norbert
