A Conrad, is a starter banjo, but if you start with too low of a grade, you will sacrifice tone.
If you want to play Dixieland, Jazz,Roaring Twenties, then 4 string is the choice.
If you like country, Bluegrass, Mountain style music, or Classical then 5 string would be better, in the long run
