I'm thinking of buying a Lyle banjo. But I can't find any information on a company named Lyle... It looks like a great banjo, appears to have a tone ring and such, but I want to have some info on the company before I buy. The person is asking $100 if that helps any.

What's this banjo? view posts

I have an unidentifiable banjo that has National on the headstock in cursive. I was told it's a pre-war model. After further inspection, I found a serial #. No other identifying marks. I'm afraid to take it apart to look inside. It looks as if the banjo was played by the slight wear on the neck and head. It looks to be in good shape and actually has a nice sound when I can get it in tune. Can someone please help me figure out who made this banjo? This can't be the same "National" that built my dobro. Or can it?

Need help in finding out how to tune it. It has a very short neck, unlike tenor banjo's. do I tune it like a guitar?

My grandfather has a Ludwig banjo circa. 1930. It is in mint condition, and goldplated. We were wondering what it might be worth. It is a tenor or plectrum I think. After much searching on the net we have come up with a range in prices from $300 to $4000. What do ya'll think is a good price? Email me for more details.

Take a look at the B&D; Lyric Tenor in the classifieds and tell me what you know about its origin.
