I have acquired a Lakeside 4-string banjo which has hand-painted art under the laminate on the reverse side. Could anyone tell me what period this is from and what it is worth. i would like to sell it. it has its original case.

I just bought a 4 string tenor banjo. It is an Epiphone recording Alhambra model in its original case. Can anyone tell me anything about it. I thought I was buying it as a gift for my husband, but found out he plays a 5 string. Not at all the same thing apparently. Anyway, does anyone know anything about this type of banjo and when is the earliest it could have been manufactured, as the case and the banjo both look very old - like 1905 to 1915 or so - is this possible. Any idea on possible worth? ANY info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Leslie

This 5 string Gibson banjo was given to my dad by a friend who got it from his dad, and probably his dad before him. On the inside ring of it, the number 7080 - 100 is stamped into the wood, with no label. Any idea when it was made?
Please E-mail me at [email protected] if you have any ideas.
Thanks a lot.

I have a friends Supertone Banjo and am wondering how I can find out what it is worth. After some looking on the net it seems they went out of business in 1933.

We need a banjo luthier or restorer out there who is willing to monitor these discussions and help some of these folks out with their questions about their banjos. As for the post re: the Franciscan banjo @ 100.00 You did o.k. I used to sell those several years ago for 189.00.

My wife just gave me a 4 string 17 fret banjo. It is a Gordon and she was told it was made by Bacon-Day in 1928. It weighs approximately 6 pounds. It is tuned like a ukelele. Any suggestions where to look for history on this instrument?
